Hydromanagement Ltd successfully conducted a design project for the Waste Water Treatment Plant of the town of Agios Nikolaos οn the island of Crete – budget of 5.000.000 €. The scope of the project comprised the upgrade and extension of the Waste Water Treatment Plant by constructing a new, parallel treatment unit. The Waste Water Treatment Plant serves a population, which fluctuates between 8.000EP in the winter and 14.000EP during summer. Membrane-Bio-Reactor (MBR) technology is used for the treatment.

The project contributes to the protection of one of the most important beaches on the island, off of which an underwater pipeline disposes the residue of the secondary treatment.

The main works included in the design project are:

• Waste water and sewage pre-treatment unit
• Membrane-Bio-Reactor (MBR) waste water treatment unit
• Ultraviolet radiation (UV) disinfection and chlorination unit
• Sludge dewatering unit
• Landscaping and flood protection works as well as interventions-conversions in order to connect the new works to the existing plant
• Electromechanical works and automation
